In Rotterdam there are 3 parking areas where you have to pay to park: the center (black), the shell (red) and the outer shell (blue). Open the 'Parking zones' heading and you can immediately see at a glance which parking rates apply in these areas, but also in which parking zones there is no paid parking at all. Free parking!

Parking in Rotterdam is not always easy, especially if you are looking for a free parking space. Paid parking applies in a large part of Rotterdam. However, there are a number of exceptions. Free parking at 15 P+R areas in Rotterdam

You can park your car or motorcycle for free at these 15 P+R areas (P+R stands for Parking and Travel) for a maximum of 72 hours. The condition is that you continue traveling by public transport and that you use your OV chip card for this. The travel time to Rotterdam Center is approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending on where you park your car. Free parking at Feyenoord Stadium De Kuip

On days when no competitions or events are held in De Kuip, you can park for free in the De Kuip car park. You can park your car in a parking space at P2 or P3, right next to the Maas building.

Free parking in Rotterdam on public holidays

On New Year's Day, Easter Monday, Whit Monday and Christmas Day you do not have to pay parking costs for parking on the street in paid parking areas. However, on Easter Monday, Whit Monday, King's Day, Liberation Day and Boxing Day, the same rates apply as on regular Sundays, so you do pay for parking.

Free parking on Saturday and Sunday

At the time of writing (July 2023), you can park your car for free on Saturdays and Sundays in Kralingen - Crooswijk in zones 600, 630, 633, 634, 650 and 660 and at Laanslootseweg and Spanjeweg in Delfshaven. NB! So you can't park here for free during the week.

Free parking in Rotterdam between 11 p.m. and 9 a.m.

Paid parking applies throughout the city center of Rotterdam on all days of the week, including Sundays and public holidays, but this generally only applies from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Outside these times you can park for free anywhere in Rotterdam.

Free parking Rotterdam Central Station

You can park for free for a short period at the Kiss & Ride on Delftseplein next to Rotterdam Central Station to drop off or pick up travelers.

Free parking Rotterdam Airport

If you just want to say a quick hello to your traveling companions (Kiss & Go), you can say goodbye briefly in front of the terminal and unload your luggage. The maximum parking time is 5 minutes and you do not have to pay for it. You will find these free parking spaces when you enter Rotterdam Airport from the A13 motorway via the Rotterdam Airportbaan to P1 on the left. Immediately after P1 you have the so-called Kiss & Co parking spaces.

Free parking at Loading and Unloading

When loading and unloading, there is no 'parking' in Rotterdam and therefore the municipality of Rotterdam may not impose a parking fine. You can park here for free to load and unload goods or to let someone get in and out. However, on the condition that immediately after parking the car, goods of any weight or size that can hardly be picked up or delivered in any other way must be continuously loaded or unloaded.

Can't find a free parking space?

Unfortunately! But in that case you can find a paid parking lot anywhere in the city. Please note that parking rates vary considerably per parking space. In general, parking on the street in Rotterdam is more expensive than parking in a parking garage. The Municipality of Rotterdam would also prefer that all cars park in parking garages. It is busy on Friday evenings and during the weekend, making parking capacity more limited than normal. In and around Rotterdam there are signs indicating where parking is available and how many parking spaces are available. The municipality of Rotterdam itself manages a number of parking garages, but there are commercial providers of parking garages such as Interparking and Q-Park. Parking in these parking garages is often more expensive.
