Rotterdam is the 2nd largest shopping city in the Netherlands where the shops are open 7 days a week and you can shop until you drop. Rotterdam has numerous shopping streets, shopping centers and shopping areas, you will find a mix of unique shops from local designers and luxury department stores selling exclusive brands. Wherever you wander in this metropolis, you will always find something unique.

On this page we tell you where to go if you are looking for a truly unique shopping experience or just want to shop casually at international retailers. Below you will find the most popular shopping areas in Rotterdam that are definitely worth a visit.

City Triangle

The Stadsdriehoek is located in the center of Rotterdam and runs from the Coolsingel to the Goudseslingel and the Boompjes. You will find the iconic Beurstraverse (the Koopgoot) and the Markthal there. An ideal place for shopping.

  1. Beurstraverse (Koopgoot)

    SHOPPING KOOPGOOT BEURSTRAVERSE

    The Koopgoot with more than 40 shops is located between the Lijnbaan and the Hoogstraat and runs straight under the Coolsingel. The range varies from fashion and lifestyle to gifts and catering. In addition to the fashion stores of America Today, Lacoste and Vanilia, you will find the major department stores such as C&A, Hema and Bijenkorf, but also the flagship stores of Zara, Forever 21 and H&M. The Hennes & Maurits branch in the Koopgoot is the largest in the Netherlands.

  2. Binnenwegplein

    SHOPPING BINNENWEGPLEIN

    The Binnenwegplein is a car-free shopping area on the Coolsingel. On the square you will find the big crowd pullers such as the Mediamarkt and Zara, but also the more exclusive stores such as Urban Outfitters and TK Maxx. It is also home to Bram Ladage's iconic chip shop, the Feyenoord Fanshop, the largest Primark in Europe and the largest bookstore in the Netherlands (Donner).

  3. Botersloot

    SHOPPING BOTERSLOOT

    De Botersloot is a kind of quiet village street, right in the center of Rotterdam. The Botersloot runs from the Meent to the Hoogstraat and is full of small-scale (second-hand) clothing stores, bookstores, design shops and catering establishments.

  4. Coolsingel

    SHOPPING COOLSINGEL

    The Coolsingel is the busy central boulevard and the most famous street in the city and runs from the Hofplein to the Blaak. It is also the place where special events are organized such as the celebration of Feyenoord on the balcony of the City Hall, the Summer Carnival and the Rotterdam Marathon. On the Coolsingel you will find various international chains such as Decathlon and Zara Home, but also the Bijenkorf.

  5. Goudsesingel

    SHOPPING GOUDSESINGEL

    The Goudsesingel is a busy bustling street and forms the border between the center and Crooswijk. It is the connecting road between Pompenburg and the Oostplein and the approach route for the Meent, the Koopgoot, the Lijnbaan and the Coolsingel. Where the market once was, the Goudsesingel is now a busy shopping street in the heart of Rotterdam where several hotspots are located.

  6. Hoogstraat

    SHOPPING HOOGSTRAAT

    The Hoogstraat is a narrow shopping street in the heart of Rotterdam and runs from the Beursplein and the Koopgoot past the Markthal and the Central Library to the Goudsesingel and the Oostplein. In addition to the large clothing department store Peek & Cloppenburg, on the Hoogstraat you will also find smaller shops, galleries and catering establishments from local entrepreneurs.

  7. Market Hall

    SHOPPING MARKTHAL

    The first covered market in the Netherlands is in Rotterdam! This Rotterdam icon in horseshoe shape - also called the Sistine Chapel of Rotterdam - is located on the corner of Binnenrotte and Blaak, opposite the Central Library and is simply unmissable. Under the colorful roof of the Markthal - which is the largest work of art in the world - you will find 96 market stalls and 20 shops and restaurants. The Markthal is a place where good food, fresh products and diverse cultures come together.

  8. Meents

    SHOPPING ALONGNT

    De Meent - located between the Coolsingel and the Goudsesingel is the most vibrant and glamorous shopping street in Rotterdam. In addition to well-known and exclusive stores from Scotch & Soda, Cavallaro and the Nikkie Brand Store, you will also find smaller boutiques from local entrepreneurs. When you are tired of shopping, you can sit down on one of the terraces of the many catering establishments in Meent.

  9. Pannekoekstraat

    SHOPPING PANNEKOESTRAAT

    The Pannekoekstraat (the Soho of Rotterdam) is a long shopping street and side street of the Meent and is one of the emerging shopping streets of Rotterdam. You will not find any large retail chains there, but rather small, cozy shops with their own range. The Pannekoekstraat is a delight for lovers of specialty shops. In addition to all these beautiful boutiques, you can also eat well in one of the countless catering establishments.

 

Center

Most shops can be found in the bustling center of Rotterdam. If you walk from Central Station through the covered Central Plaza to the center, you will soon arrive at one of the popular shopping streets such as the Lijnbaan, the Karel Doormanstraat and the Oude- en Nieuwe Binnenweg. If you walk a little further, you will reach the Witte De Withstraat, one of the most lively streets in Rotterdam.

  1. Court arches

    SHOPPING HOFBOGEN

    The Hofboogs are located under the old railway viaduct, Hofplein Station and Bergweg Station. Where the trains used to run between Rotterdam and Scheveningen, you will now find 2 kilometers of design, fashion and catering with sun-drenched terraces. Don't expect international brands or designers, but rather small specialty shops with special products run by Rotterdam entrepreneurs.

  2. Karel Doormanstraat

    SHOPPING KAREL DOORMANSTRAAT

    The Karel Doormanstraat is a well-known shopping street in the heart of Rotterdam and runs from the Weena to the Westblaak. The wide sidewalk and the wide range of shops and restaurants make it an ideal place for shopping. You will find Caesar Donna and Caesar Uomo, a clothing and shoe store where you will find the latest fashion from the exclusive designer brands of Christian Louboutin, Balmain, Dsquared2, Valentino, Lanvin and Givenchy.

  3. Kruiskade

    WINKELEN KRUISKADE

    Kruiskade, also known as the fashion district of Rotterdam, is located between Karel Doormanstraat and Coolsingel. It is the most exclusive shopping street in Rotterdam where you will find major fashion brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors and the Dutch Oger. In addition to all the fashion stores, you will find many catering establishments such as Cafe Beurs and entertainment venues such as Villa Thalia and TIWYA.

  4. Line track

    SHOPPING LIJNBAAN

    Next to the Karel Doormanstraat and perpendicular to the Kruiskade is the Lijnbaan, the beating shopping heart of Rotterdam. The Lijnbaan ends at the Binnenwegplein and connects to the Koopgoot. It is Rotterdam's most famous shopping street and once the first car-free shopping area in Europe. You will find large branches of international brands where you can browse for hours. And even in rainy weather you can walk dry for a large part on the Lijnbaan.

  5. Nieuwe Binnenweg

    SHOPPING NIEUWE BINNENWEG

    The Nieuwe Binnenweg is the longest shopping street in the Netherlands and runs all the way from Eendrachtsplein to Delfshaven. Together with the Oude Binnenweg and the Binnenwegplein, no less than 2.5 kilometers of shopping pleasure with the most diverse range of shops, cafes and restaurants from the most diverse cultures.

  6. Old Binnenweg

    The Oude Binnenweg is a pleasant, historic shopping street located between the Nieuwe Binnenweg and the Binnenwegplein. You will find some smaller shops and restaurants, including a number of businesses that are more aimed at people with a specific lifestyle.

  7. Witte De Withstraat

    A little outside the center - on the otherOn the other side of the Westblaak - lies the Witte De Withstraat, one of the best-known and most popular nightlife streets in Rotterdam, full of cafes, restaurants, art galleries, various cozy shops and monuments. The Witte De Withstraat is also the street where Hotel Restaurant Bazar (Bazar is Persian for market) opened its doors in 1997, a piece of the Middle East in Rotterdam.

  8. Van Oldenbarneveltstraat

    The Van Oldenbarneveltstraat is an exclusive shopping street in Rotterdam between the Karel Doormanstraat and Mauritsweg. The Van Oldenbarneveltstraat has a luxurious appearance and the presence of exclusive fashion boutiques, luxury shoe shops and charming lunchrooms makes you feel like you're in Paris. People with good taste shop here.

  9. Weena

    SHOPPING WEENA

    Weena is the street with many skyscrapers that runs in front of Central Station to the fountain on Hofplein. You will find various shops there, including Central Plaza. Here you will find trendy and exclusive clothing stores and a number of catering establishments. But you will also find nice shops in Central Station itself and where you can get a snack or coffee from Starbucks. For a night out, go to the Holland Casino or the underground nightclub TOFFLER.

 

Alexandrium

The Alexandrium shopping area is located in the Prins Alexander district and is the largest shopping center in Rotterdam. The shopping area consists of three parts, namely Alexandrium Shopping Center, Alexandrium Megastores and Woonmall Alexandrium, and together there are more than 200 stores in the areas of fashion and sports, beauty and care, image and sound, living, lifestyle, leisure and services. There are also plenty of catering establishments to relax from all the shopping and enjoy a snack and a drink.

  1. Alexandrium Shopping Center

    SHOPPING ALEXANDRIUM SHOPPING CENTER

    Alexandrium Shopping Center (or Alexandrium I, or Oosterhof) is a large (indoor) shopping center and can be found in Rotterdam Prins Alexander. In Alexandrium Shopping Center you will find more than 140 shops in a mix of major brands, small entrepreneurs and various catering establishments.

  2. Alexandrium Megastores

    SHOPPING ALEXANDRIUM MEGASTORES

    In Alexandrium II you will find the Alexandrium Megastores, a shopping boulevard with 17 mega-sized stores from well-known chains in the field of household goods, electronics, toys, sportswear and pets. You will find the XL stores of Coolblue, Sports World, Pets Place, Prenatal, Casa, BCC, Xenos, Blokker, Decathlon, ToyChamp, Mediamarkt and Bristol. For a quick bite you can go to Burger King.

  3. Woonmall Alexandrium

    SHOPPING WOONMALL ALEXANDRIUM

    Alaxandrium III is the Woonmall Alexandrium. Here you will find more than 55 home furnishing stores under one roof. It is the place where you can get living inspiration all day long. Whether you are looking for new furniture, a completely new interior or just some home accessories, you will find it at Woonmall Alexandrium.

  1. Zuidplein

    SHOPPING ZUIDPLEIN

    Zuidplein shopping center in South Rotterdam, with 155 shops, is one of the largest indoor shopping centers in the Netherlands and within walking distance of Ahoy and Theater Zuidplein. In addition to small cozy boutiques, you will also find big names such as Primark, H&M and C&A. In addition to shopping and eating and drinking, there is often something to do at Zuidplein. At the end of 2022, a new part of the Zuidplein shopping center was completed and more shops were added.
