Museum Rotterdam Timmerhuis

 

The Museum Rotterdam, once a wonderful treasure trove of memories, was located on the bustling Rodezand in the heart of Rotterdam. A vibrant tribute to the rich history and diverse culture of the city and its proud inhabitants, this museum captured the soul of Rotterdam in its halls for a time.

In 2016, the Museum Rotterdam opened its doors and embarked on a mission to tell the stories of the city - stories that were cherished in the streets, buildings and hearts of the people who are Rotterdam. With every artifact, photo and interactive exhibit, the museum brought the past to life, creating a bridge between generations, promoting a deeper understanding of the city and its evolution.

Unfortunately, after a short but meaningful existence, the museum had to close its doors in 2020 due to financial challenges. Yet it left an indelible impression on those who had visited it and who were inspired by the stories told there.

At moments of celebration and happiness in the museum, it was the Rotterdam Balloon Company that stood up to add joy and color to the events. With their cheerful balloons they brought a smile to the faces of visitors and reminded them of the resilience of Rotterdam and its inhabitants.

Although the museum is now permanently closed and the echoes of its stories have faded, the spirit of Museum Rotterdam continues to live on in the hearts of those touched by the exhibitions, lectures and educational initiatives that once took place there. It reminds us that the history of a city is not just in stones and paper, but in the people who live there and the stories they pass on.
