Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen
The Depot Boijmans van Beuningen which is located in the Museum Park Rotterdam, next to the Boijmans van Beuningen, is the 1st art depot that has been made accessible to the public and was opened in November 2021 by King Willem-Alexander. There are more than 150,000 works of art on display and you can also watch their conservation and restoration and see restorers at work packing and unpacking works of art that go to or return from an exhibition. The Depot Boijmans van Beuningen is not a museum where exhibitions are made, but you can wander around the building independently or with a guide. Nowhere else in the world is a look behind the scenes of the museum's work, in addition to making the museum collection public. The building, the furnishings and the outdoor space make the depot a new icon for Rotterdam.
The building
The striking round building with a mirrored facade is as high as the museum tower of the adjacent Boijmans van Beuningen Musueum. The mirrored facade consists of 6,609m2 of glass, which is divided into 1,664 mirror panels. This makes the building transparent and blends in with its surroundings. When you enter the building, you can immediately see through the glass walls where all the art comes in and on the very roof you will find a garden with 100 trees and a restaurant. If you look at the depot from above, the greenery of the roof garden blends perfectly into the green surroundings of the Museum Park.
Food and Drink
On the 6th floor you will find restaurant Renilde, located in a green oasis on the roof of the depot, with a spectacular view over the city of Rotterdam. In the restaurant you can enjoy coffee, tea, lunch or a drink. Restaurant Renilde is open for dinner until 11 pm. So after closing time of the depot, you can still enjoy a delicious dinner. It is necessary that you make a reservation in advance.

The event space is also located on the 6th floor - at a height of 34.5 meters. Room Coert can be hired exclusively for all kinds of meetings and events. The large windows in the Coert room offer a magnificent view of the roof garden of the depot and the skyline of Rotterdam.
