RDM Rotterdam
At the RDM (Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij) - in the middle of the Rotterdam harbor area, near the village of Heijplaat - ships of the Holland America Line were built, including the SS Rotterdam. Companies at RDM are now working together with students and researchers on sustainable technical innovations. The former machine hall is the center of the RDM Rotterdam. The RDM Makerspace with wood workshop with classic hand tools up to 3D printers, laser cutters and other high-tech equipment for digital manufacturing has all the resources you could wish for as a designer, maker and inventor. Events are regularly organized at the RDM.
It is definitely worth taking a look around and having a snack and/or drink in the RDM canteen. Combine your visit to the RDM with a walking or cycling tour through the Heijplaat. The site and the Makerspace are also open to the public during the World Port Days and guided Tours are organised.
